Deputy Finance Minister I Visits Ecrl Base Camp In Tunjong, Kelantan

On October 16th, Mohd Shahar Abdullah, Deputy Finance Minister I, visited the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Section 1 Base Camp in Tunjong, Kelantan.
The deputy minister was accompanied by Dato’ Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) and Deng Bo, Deputy Project Director cum Chief Engineer of China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd.
Mohd Shahar was briefed about the alignment, project update, overall progress, ECRL’s SOPs on epidemic prevention and control, productivity, social responsibility, and the bilateral cooperation between China and Malaysia.
The Finance Ministry delegation toured the base camp and visited the steel bar processing yard, batching plant, material storage yard, the management office as well as the employees’ living space. He gave high compliments on the standardized management of the base camp and the efforts to overcome the impact of the pandemic to ensuring smooth construction progress.
Mohd Shahar who is also the Paya Besar Member of Parliament praised that despite the current pandemic, the ECRL project has progressed well. He hopes that the ECRL project continues to generate positive economic and social spill over effects to the locals.
Earlier, the deputy minister together with Dato’ Sri Darwis and Deng also paid a courtesy visit to the Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Yakob’s residence. Mohd Shahar was on his three-day visit to Kelantan as part of the Budget 2022 road tour.
